From the point of view of the military, primarily nuclear and missile technologies that the country has today (thanks for them to Beria, Slavsky, Korolev, Khariton, Zeldovich, Tamm, Yangel and everyone else who was involved in these areas), it is more difficult to destroy us than Then. From all other points of view, it's easier. Fortunately, today's Russia is already halved compared to the Russian Empire and the USSR, which was also a superpower, which we don’t even have in sight. And what is, neither their own know nor the West understand. Since the military operations in Ukraine so far demonstrate that what was not expected or believed to be in piece quantities, suddenly turned out to be in abundance, and what was expected, for a long time and hyped at all corners, is not. And either it doesn’t exist at all, or it doesn’t exist in the right quantities, or its bosses don’t understand for what purposes they hold it for the time being, you can’t figure it out with fire during the day. However, it is not really necessary. The less you know, the better you sleep. Let the enemies twitch once again.

Brothers! The news has arrived! It turns out that Laima Vaikule supported the USSR, and Alla Pugacheva supported the whole of Russia. It remains to understand who supported those who bought tickets for concerts and records, launching rockets into space and building factories.

Faced with the threat of the collapse of the country in which he was born and lived all his life and which he sincerely loved, Gorbachev tried different ways to solve the problem. But having reached the extreme point, he stopped, even going a little over the extreme point, of course, given the shooting in Lithuania and Georgia. But still he stopped. When that didn't work either, Gorbachev stepped aside, resigned, and lived on for many years in retirement.

In this little book, which is an extension of my Sanford lectures at Duke University, I intend to set out such a program.

To join the Union of Writers of the USSR, that is, to become a patented, stamped writer, in those days was no easier than to become a member of the Masonic Lodge. It was a magic circle, which had to be crossed somehow cunningly, almost casting spells: the author of two published books could become a member of the Union; on the other hand, only a member of the Union could publish a book... It was a normal delirium of Soviet life, one of its manifestations.

Increasing violence, Power inevitably reduces its own stability. Not the smartest approach. By the way, it is precisely for this reason that it is naive to call the post-Stalinist USSR a totalitarian state, since the quality and depth of education of the population, and not the scale of violence, constantly increased in it. Educated people cannot be kept by violence, only by an idea. And the destruction of the USSR occurred precisely at the moment when the authorities could not adequately respond to the emerging economic problems.

They are trying to shake Russia from the inside. This is how the USSR was rocked, which is why in 1991 the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics lowered the red flag of the great people at half mast.

I didn't know that Kissinger worked in intelligence. And what he said afterwards was unexpected and very interesting for me. He said: “You know, I am now being criticized a lot for my position at that time in relation to the USSR. I believed that the Soviet Union should not leave Eastern Europe so quickly. We are changing the balance of the world very quickly, and this can lead to undesirable consequences. And now I'm being blamed for it. They say: now the Soviet Union is gone, and everything is fine, but you thought it was impossible. And I really thought it was impossible." Then he thought and added: "To be honest, I still don't understand why Gorbachev did it." I didn't expect to hear that from him at all. I told him and I say now: Kissinger was right. We would have avoided so many problems if there had not been such a hasty flight.

The war should not be waged against Russia, but solely to overthrow Bolshevism. It is impossible to confuse the USSR with Russia, the Soviet power with the Russian people, the executioner with the victim. If a war starts against Russia, for its division and Balkanization (Ukraine, the Caucasus) or for the rejection of Russian lands, then the Russian people will perceive such a war again as a Patriotic war. If the war is not waged against Russia and her sovereignty, if the inviolability of Russia's historical borders and her rights, which ensure the vital interests of the empire, is recognized, then the fall of Bolshevism with the help of a popular uprising or an internal coup is quite possible.
