It is bad when people are massively exterminated in Hitler's Germany, and the Jews did the same with the Ammonites, cutting them out in cities from a baby to an old man, and in the USSR Yezhov instructed employees: "everyone should prepare for mass repressions against Harbin, Poles, Germans ...". If in Germany and Russia one language is mandatory for all as the state language, and in Israel a law on the status of the Arabic language and on the Jewish character of the Israeli state has been adopted, then Ukraine will no longer cause complaints. Other standards cannot be applied to Ukraine in relation to Ukrainians, allegedly violating the generally recognized principles and norms of international law, if Tatars in Russia cannot expect answers from sellers in stores in the Tatar language.

The West's struggle with Russia is already irrational. But why is it interesting for us? of course, we saw many problems in our Soviet past. We see a lot of problems in our current state. Of course, we are aware of our national shortcomings.
The ongoing struggle with Russia has been going on for 100 years. Civil war... Participation in intervention, foreign influence in the white movement. As a result of the civil war, the country was destroyed to the ground. Maybe someone thinks that before 1941 we had an easy life? No. The war was constantly going on. 1941-45 - there is nothing to say about it. The war was wought on the territory of the USSR. Half the country was destroyed to the ground. Then I had to rebuild the country. Nay. In 1946, the Cold War began. And it started from the West. And it still lasts. Huge resources are spent on confrontation. How many problems could have been solved if not for this war. Roads, cities would be built...

Working at the congress, in its commissions, gave me the opportunity to personally get acquainted with almost all the leaders of our country. With the exception of N.I. Ryzhkov and N.A. Nazarbayev, all the other leaders, and above all B.N. supported her. Of course, before the Congress, all attention and all hopes were associated with Boris N. Yeltsin. My disappointment was terrible. I saw a rather limited person, absolutely unprepared for the role of a reformer and reformer of the USSR. He was especially irritated by the feigned democratism of the nomenklatura worker - on the one hand, familiar relations with people, on the other, incredible arrogance. And this mixture of incompatible made him completely fake. When I realized this, I was struck by the general euphoria of his supporters, because there were many smart people among them.

This collective work is devoted to little-studied issues of the ecology of forced labor used in the Gulag in the 1930s-1950s. The authors (historians from Russia, Great Britain, Germany and the Usa) base their research on large amounts of documents from the previously secret archival funds of soviet punitive agencies - the OGPU, the NKVD, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. The first part deals with the general issues of forced labor in the USSR in the 1930s - 1950s, the scale and structure of the camp economy, the evolution of its management system. The special methods of combining coercion and stimulation of labor of the gulag prisoners are shown, the phenomenon of corruption in the system of camps is considered. In the second part of the book, the economics of the Gulag are explored in regional and sectoral dimensions. Here, the focus is on the use of forced labor in those areas of the country where the Gulag workforce played the most important role (in the Far East, in the Arctic, in Karelia, as well as in Siberia and the Urals). The authors examine the organization of forced labor, its productivity and the degree of efficiency on the archival material of the largest objects of the Gulag, including the White Sea Canal, the Norilsk Nickel Committee, Dalstroy (magadan's gold mines), as well as in the rural economy and logging operations. Archival data on the work of prisoners of war and special settlers are also involved.

This meeting (of Biden and Putin) speaks to the fact that Russia has become a world superpower. This turn has taken place. This is symbolic for several reasons. In a few months, it will be exactly 30 years since the flag of the USSR came down and Russia left the world arena. It seemed like it was forever. And now we suddenly understood everything ... The attitude of every citizen is changing, the attitude towards us in the world is changing. And it seems to me that the meeting was just for this. In fact, there was nothing else there. And this does not mean that there will be reconciliation. Accepting the adversary as equal does not mean reconciling. Moreover, the struggle will continue. But on different terms. On a different level. And this level, it seems to me, is more beneficial for Russia.

The book by British journalist and documentary filmmaker Frances Stonor Saunders presents for the first time shocking evidence of the CIA's manipulation of cultural policy during the Cold War. On the basis of meticulously collected archival information, the author describes the activities of the CIA in financing and coordinating left-wing intellectuals and cultural figures in Western Europe and the United States in order to alienate the intelligentsia from left-wing ideas, persuade them to fight against the USSR and instill sympathy for the "American way." The CIA-sponsored Congress for Cultural Freedom with offices in 35 countries was the main mechanism and platform for this work, which involved such famous writers and philosophers as Raymond Aron, André Malraux, Arthur Koestler, George Orwell and many others.

We are Marxists. But I rejected one of Lenin's basic thoughts about the complete rejection of the empire. I believe that empire is a form of public education. It includes different peoples, denominations, and even countries. More or less violence is present. Unfortunately, the whole history of the world takes place with violence.

. Returning to President Putin's statement. It was no accident that he made a thought about America just before meeting with Biden. Because there's a signal in that thought: Guys, think about where you're going. And if you don't, you're going to collapse.
We are an empire. And we keep that. We are not global like America, but a world empire. Russia has never claimed to be a global empire. Russia has always claimed the part called Eurasia. As a Eurasianist and Gumilevets, I believe that it is necessary to include the first empire - the horde, which created the first empire on the territory of our country. And the inner meaning of all empires is the development of a huge and very difficult space, which we got as our homeland. And the peoples understood that it was necessary to unite in order to survive.
